The total number of viewers odds were set at OVER/UNDER 117.5 million, the UNDER priced at -240, and the actual Nielsen Rating at OVER/UNDER 48.5, the UNDER priced at -350.

Last year’s Super Bowl, with Peyton Manning's potential (and later confirmed) last game, $5 million ads, became the third most watched broadcast in U.S. television history. The game, which saw the Denver Broncos win a defensive battle over the Carolina Panthers 24-10, averaged 111.9 million TV viewers.

That number was a decline from the previous year's record viewership of 114.4 million people on NBC. The Super Bowl in 2014 had the second largest viewership with an average audience of 112.2 million.

The 2015 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks set a new mark, averaging 114.4 million viewers per minute on NBC's Sunday night broadcast, becoming the most watched event in American TV history.

Super Bowl viewership has increased nearly every year, since 2002, when the Patriots won their first title. In the last 13 years, only the 2005 and 2013 Super Bowls have seen a decrease in average total viewers, compared to the previous year’s championship game.
