Lyoto Machida at a Great Price

It used to be that a UFC fight featuring Rashad Evans would have the star an easy favorite.  Enter Lyoto Machida, the Japanese Brazilian opponent who has already taken out some of the biggest names in the UFC today: Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin and B.J. Penn, and his first-round knockout victory over previously unbeaten Thiago Silva on Jan. 31 was the most eye-catching moment of his career.

Considering his record to date against marquee names, Machida at -200is some pretty solid value.  These were the odds being offered by SBG Global heading into Saturday.

Steve Cofield of Yahoo Sports writes of Lyoto Machida:

"Lyoto Machida is a unique across the board. He's the only really successful mixed martial artist coming from a karate background who still uses much of his karate base. His style is incredibly elusive. It almost seems like other fighters are a little afraid of the guy. There's a mystique about him."

Machida also drinks his own urine, claiming "it's therapy".

Danny Acosta of Sherdog had this to say about the Evans-Machida showdown:

"The prospect of Evans-Jackson turned Evans-Machida into a second-fiddle booking. Come fight time, though, it should be apparent that the combatants are two of the world's best -- Sherdog.com ranks Evans and Machida at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively -- at 205 pounds. Regardless of the outcome, their well-rounded games, which emphasize defense, will likely ensure they will remain among the sport's elite for years to come, even if fans are not thrilled by what they see at UFC 98."
