Trump Dines With GOP Megadonor, Anti-Online Gambling Zealot Sheldon Adelson

Newly elected US President Donald Trump was dining with gambling magnate and stalwart objector to the legalization of online gambling, Sheldon Adelson.

In recent years, Adelson has worked with a handful of politicians to push through legislation that would ban all forms of Web gambling.  Many industry pundits believe the casino mogul could get Trump to sign off on an executive order that would ensure his agenda is met.

Three states – including Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware – have already legalized Internet gambling for casino games and poker.  Only in New Jersey has the sector enjoyed some degree of success.  Adelson’s previous measures would order these states to cease such activity.

Adelson and his wife, Miriam, contributed more than $20 million to a super PAC that aired pro-Trump and anti-Hillary Clinton advertising in the final weeks before Election Day.
