Just How Successful Was Upstate New York’s New River’s Casino?

Upstate New York has three newly opened commercial casinos with a fourth slated to open shortly. Among them, the Rivers Casino in Schenectady, which saw more than $27 million wagered in its first five days of business, and that was with two blizzards hitting the region.

Gross gaming revenue — the amount of money kept by the casino — was $3.03 million.

"We are pleased with the performance of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady," the casino said in a statement. "Our guests and the community have been very enthusiastic. Our entire team looks forward to continually improving operations and providing a superior entertainment experience."

The other two casinos to open - Tioga Downs and Del Lago Resort and Casino – saw $9.2 million in total wagers and $36.6 million in total wagers during their first weeks, respectively.
