The 2017 NFL Draft is going to be here before per head agents know it. The NFL is 24-7, 365 days a year.

As always one of the big discussions should be around which quarterback will be drafted first. Online bookies want to prepare to receive action on the following four quarterbacks.

Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina, +110

Trubisky started only one season at North Carolina. No matter. He’s at the top of every team’s draft board because he has the physical tools, played in a pro offense at Chapel Hill, and is mobile.

Some NFL scouts compare him to Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger. The one negative is that his throwing mechanics need some work.

It’s easier to teach throwing mechanics to a mobile quarterback than it is to teach a pocket-passer how to escape the rush.

Per head agents should expect most of their casual players to dump on Trubisky at the nice +110 odds.

DeShaun Watson, Clemson, +150

The 2017 College Football winning quarterback must have already received a ton of love from some future prop bettors. How else to explain his odds going down to +150?

Most NFL scouts prefer Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer over Watson. Then again, Watson has that one intangible that’s impossible to teach, leadership ability.

There’s no question that Watson has impeccable leadership skills.

Due to those leadership skills, many master agents are going to find pro players wagering on DeShaun to be the first QB taken in the NFL Draft.

Pro players are going to love the odds. They’ll also respect leadership ability, just like NFL coaches respect it.

DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame, +400

Scouts love Kizer’s physical tools. He, like Trubisky, played in a pro-style offense at South Bend. That helps. But, Kizer is raw when it comes to playing like an NFL quarterback.

He tends to sit in the pocket too long although he has mobility. He also tends to stare down his targets, giving ample time to defensive backs to read his eyes.

There are definitely a few flaws in his game. Although casual player might jump on the 4 to 1 odds. Pro players know better.

If you can’t read defenses in the NFL, it doesn’t matter how great your physical skills are.

Patrick Mahomes II, Texas Tech, +2000

There’s no way Patrick Mahomes is the first QB taken in the 2017 NFL Draft. Per CBS Sports, Mahomes has “messy mechanics, footwork, and “body motion”.

He also played in a run and gun, spread, offense. Most offensive coordinators are shunning the spread offense for a more traditional NFL system.

Mahomes, unlike Trubisky, Watson, and Kizer, can’t possibly start Day 1. PPH agents should only receive flyer action on Mahomes II to be the first QB taken in the NFL Draft.
