Poker Pro Dragged Off United Plane Goes All In With Likely ‘Criminal’ Suit

A Louisville doctor and professional poker player has filed an emergency "bill of discovery" to preserve evidence against United Airlines after a video surfaced showing him being dragged off a plane Sunday night.

David Dao suffered a significant concussion, a broken nose, a sinus injury and lost two front teeth, his attorney, Thomas Demetrio, said at a news conference.

United overbooked the Chicago-to-Louisville flight and asked for volunteers to accept a travel voucher and free accommodations. With no takers, Dao’s name popped up on a random computerized selection process but he refused to deplane. Police were then summoned to remove Dao.

The 69-year-old doctor has enjoyed a successful run on the live poker circuit, first making a name for himself in 2009 with a 2nd place finish at a World Series of Poker event.
