These Six Teams Will Hurt Bookies, Sportsbooks If They Win 2017 NBA Championship

Covers.com this week name six NBA teams that will hurt the books should they manage to win the 2017 Championship.

The six teams are the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavs, Boston Celtics, LA Clippers, Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets.

The Warriors and Cavaliers are “no-brainers” considering their success in recent years and that they were favorites to win this year’s title.

The books just need Golden State to win a little more if it comes down to another Warriors-Cavs Finals appearance.

“The Cavs are definitely one of our liabilities. In fact, I think the Cavs are our only loser,” Johnny Avello, executive director of race and sports at Wynn Las Vegas, told Covers . “We’re rooting against Golden State, although they’re not a big loser for us anymore.”

The Wizards, though, were not among the teams expected to enjoy a successful post season run.  They opened at 130/1 odds of winning the Championship and were currently listed at 33/1.

Meanwhile, Houston finished third in the West.

“The Rockets have got a good team, and people were betting them early, when they were about 30/1 or so,” Avello noted. “Now, they’re around 18/1.”
