Why Do The New England Patriots Have the Easiest Schedule in 2017?
The National Football League released its 2017 regular season schedule with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots appearing to have the softest schedule. Their odds of winning the 2018 Super Bowl were set at a modest 4-1.
They will face each of the three teams they went up against in the 2016 playoffs — the Houston Texans, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons.
There is also a stretch of five road games during Weeks 10 through 15, one of which will take place in Mexico City against what should be a good Oakland Raiders team that capture the AFC West title last season.
The real focus here should be on expected win totals for each of the Patriots opponents. On average, the teams they will be facing are expected to win between seven and eight games with only the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15 projected to win 10 or more games.
