BGO Entertainment Gets Slapped With £300,000 Fine for Misleading Customers

The UK Gambling Commission has imposed a £300,000 on BGO Entertainment after violating the agency’s social responsibility rules and misleading customers.

The Commission cites nine BGO direct advertisements and fourteen appearing on the company’s affiliate sites for failures in specifying “limitations and qualifications” pertaining to promos.

Programme Director Paul Hope said:

“We want to make sure that gambling is conducted fairly and openly. So, we have made it clear to the industry that misleading advertising is a serious issue. We have powers to tackle it, including the power to impose financial penalties such as this.”

This is not the first time BGO Entertainment has run afoul of the Advertising Commission.

In 2015, it was determined that:

BGO and its affiliates published misleading advertisements for promotions

BGO did not take timely and effective action to address the misleading advertisements

BGO provided inaccurate assurances that the issues had been fully addressed.
