Showers were expected during the day Saturday when the 2017 Kentucky Derby takes place, making for yet another year with unpredictable forecasted weather conditions.

Tuesday night, there had been a 70 percent chance of rain during the race.  By Wednesday that percentage had decreased to 50 percent with showers as opposed to a steady rainfall.

Horses that have run well in mud (referred to as mudders) tend to take precedent with rain even remotely in the forecast.  With this in mind, Gambling911.com has honed in on McCracken, a horse that won the Jockey Club Stakes in the slop.

Saturday night rain chances were slashed to 10 percent with partly cloudy skies anticipated.

Indications Wednesday seemed to show rain fall leaving the area earlier than previously expected.

Sunday was forecast to be mostly sunny.
