Feds Extends Deadline for Claims by Absolute Poker Victims

Those affected by the abrupt closure of Absolute Poker in 2011 have until September 7, 2017 to file a claim with the US Government for assistance to receive a to-be-determined portion of monies owed.

The government, through a third party claims administrator the Garden City Group, announced in April that the remission process would soon begin for former customers of Absolute Poker and its sister site. The US Government was previously able to get most funds returned to players affected by the closure of Full Tilt Poker that also occurred in 2011.

Garden City Group, the claims administrator, said that it has emailed 1.2 million “potentially eligible victims” to let them know about the remission process. Absolute Poker and its sister site UltimateBet were believed to owe players some $60 million at the time the sites were shut down.

Last week it was revealed that Absolute Poker co-founder Tom Scott has plead guilty to one misdemeanor.
