Paul Casey sat atop the US Open leaderboard Friday evening with odds set at 6-1 ahead of Friday’s play and much longer before that.  Future odds to win and LIVE IN-PLAY WAGERING still available

“I remember saying to myself, ‘Well, you made a mess of that start,’” Casey told the New York Times.

He bogeyed the 15th hole to compound his problems but then steadied himself with a par on the 16th.

“I really was O.K. mentally; I was calm,” Casey said. “I was upset with the score I had made, but in no way did it affect my attitude moving forward.

“You’re not going to play a U.S. Open without getting knocked around or knocked down. It’s whether you get up.”

Brooks Koepka continued to hold his own while Rickey Fowler fell out of the top spot and was hovering around the lower top five after shattering records Thursday.
