A lawyer who represented members of the Gambino, Genovese, and Colombo crime families, has now been hired to represent Donald Trump Jr, son of the US President Donald J. Trump.

Alan Futerfas was brought on just hours after the New York Times revealed that Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer in the midst of the 2016 presidential election.  It has since been revealed that she offered up potentially damaging information on US Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

As for Futerfas’ association with mobsters, his clients included the infamous Genovese crime family member, Salvatore “Sally Dogs” Lombardi.

Residing in Staten Island, Lombardi was ultimately found guilty of racketeering, extortion and illegal gambling for his role in trying to illegally expand gambling operations in Atlantic City.

In 1998, Futerfas represented Anthony Russo, who was ultimately convicted for murder.

Russo’s son would later be represented by Futerfas after he was accused, along with two others, in 1997 of violently beating a black man with the bar of a steering wheel as part of a racially motivated attack.  Futerfas did manage to help the younger Russo escape a more serious charge of attempted murder.

Later in 2012, Futerfas defended 35-year-old Michael “Roc” Roccaforte, one of 35 individuals charged with racketeering, selling drugs, gambling and loan sharking by police in the Southern District of Manhattan.

Futerfas unsuccessfully tried arguing for the minimum-possible 97-month sentence for Roccaforte.
