Pete Rose Admits Tryst With Teen But Says She Was Legal in Ohio

Disgraced all-time hits leader Pete Rose had a sexual relationship with a girl in the 1970s when she was just 14 or 15, court papers alleged Monday and now Rose is admitting he did have a tryst with the woman but insists she was of legal age (16) at the time.

Papers filed in the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia include testimony made by the unidentified woman (Jane Doe).

“In 1973, when I was 14 or 15 years old, I received a phone call from Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds,” Doe said.

“Sometime after that, Pete Rose and I began meeting at a house in Cincinnati. It was at that house where, before my sixteenth birthday, Pete Rose began a sexual relationship with me.”

She added that the relationship lasted several years.

Rose, who was banned from Major League Baseball after it was revealed he had gambled on games, acknowledged the relationship — but not the teen’s age.

“Based upon my information and belief at that time, she was 16 years of age,” said Rose, who was in his 30’s at the time.

He also insisted that all the sex occurred within the Cincinnati area.  The age of consent is 16 in the state of Ohio.
