Bookies Shouldn't Get Frustrated if Players Have a Winning Week

Now that the NFL season is fully underway gamblers in North America are increasing their volume of bets. This is the true high season for North American bettors who are obsessed with betting College Football and NFL.

This also means it is the time of year when bookies generally earn the most money. However, it does not mean that players are going to lose each and every week. Players will have some weeks where they win, however over a full football season players will end up losing more than they win.

This past weekend was the second week of the NFL season, and unfortunately for local bookies, this was an extremely tough weekend, because most of the big public favorites won and covered.† Itís not hard to see why players won last week when teams like the Patriots, Chiefs, Steelers, Buccaneers, and Raiders were all favorites that the public was heavily betting on the side of. This meant that most players actually won this week, which resulted in bookies losing quite a bit.

This is always frustrating for agents when players win and can make agents become doubtful that taking action will be a profitable venture for them, however, this is a necessary evil in the industry that some weeks players are going to win and win big. If players never won then they would have no incentive to bet, and they would just all go broke before the season even ended.

The optimist view of this past weekend is that you want your players to win some weeks so they have the incentive to keep betting because this will make them think they know how to pick successful winners. It was also convenient that players won the second week of the season because this will actually keep them interested in betting earlier in the season since they already see that they had success. There is still plenty of football left to play, which means now all these week 2 winners can have a little extra cash to play deeper into the season. Think about it, would you rather your players get smoked and lose the first 4 weeks of the season, and then stop cause they do not have any more money or stop because they realize they canít win, or would you rather them have a winning week here and there which will keep them interested and playing for the full 21 week season with playoffs included?

Also when players do have a really good week, this usually makes them bet even more the following week and more times than not one really good week is followed by 4 weeks in a row of bad losing weeks. The important thing to remember is that when you become a bookie agent you're not in a race to have your players lose as much as possible as fast as possible, but instead youíre doing this for the long term, and you want to keep these players interested in betting for years not weeks, which means you need them to win sometimes.
