Disney Determined to Keep Out Gambling

In August, Disney double downed on its push to prevent gambling expansion in the Sunshine State by pumping $500K into the effort.

Now Disney is at it again, forking over another $575,000 into a proposed constitutional amendment that would make it more difficult to expand gambling in the Sunshine State.

The political committee Voters In Charge, which is spearheading the proposal, had submitted 285,526 valid petition signatures to the state as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Division of Elections website.

It needs to submit 766,200 signatures to get the measure on the November 2018 ballot.

Efforts to get the measure on the ballot have largely been bankrolled by Disney.  Their overall efforts have totaled $2.3 million as of September 30.
