2017 Week 9 College Football Betting Odds, Trends and More
Gambling911.com has all of your Week 9 College Football betting odds below with a look at some key games that should attract plenty of wagering action.
Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia – Cowboys -6.5
Oklahoma State beat West Virginia by quite a bit last season though the year previous featured a much tighter margin of victory. The Cowboys are 6-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. 67% of those betting the spread were backing the Mountaineers here. This will be a likely Big 12 elimination bout. The Cowboys should actually be a -12 favorite here.
Penn State vs. Ohio State – Buckeyes -6.5
Most certainly the College Football Game of the Week. Despite nearly 70% of the betting action coming in on PSU, the line has mostly been steady around -6.5 with some earlier moves to -6. It would appear on the surface that the books do have a fairly strong opinion on the Buckeyes, otherwise there would at least be more aggressive movement to -6, something we simply are not seeing into the midweek period. Penn State, as a road underdog of 3.5 to 7 points, has only won a single game outright out of seven since 1992 while Ohio State has gone 14-4 Straight Up as a favorite within this range playing at home since 1992.
Georgia vs. Florida – Bulldogs -13.5
Third-ranked Georgia and Florida are trending in opposite directions though one must be careful here as Florida have won the last three in this series. The Bulldogs were seeing 78% of the action on the spread. Nevertheless, the line on this game was drifting downwards with bookmakers appearing to have a strong opinion on the Gators here. Indeed UGA should be a -16 favorite here.
TCU vs. Iowa State – Horned Frogs -6.5
Outside of Penn State, TCU appeared to be the second most wagered on side at 86% Friday morning. The line was trending slightly upwards. This is a dangerous game with both teams ranked but Texas Christian rated much lower than its number 4 ranking might suggest though the line is right on the money we believe.
Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer : “Iowa State's defense has been excellent lately, but its weakness is TCU's strength. The Cyclones rank last in the Big 12 in third down defense (44.1 percent conversion), while TCU leads the FBS in third-down conversion percentage (56.2).” |
NC State vs. Notre Dame – Fighting Irish -7
Another great game going off at 3:30 pm EST. The Wolfpack has just one loss on the season while Notre Dame comes into this game undefeated. The Irish were seeing 72% of the betting action on the spread. Notre Dame should be a -12 point favorite here, but we have seen situations where lines this out of whack tend to end up with the “wrong” team covering or even winning outright. The Wolfpack are 5-0 Against The Spread in their last 5 road games. The Fighting Irish are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
Georgia Tech vs. Clemson – Tigers -14
"Georgia Tech is a football team that's 4-2, but truly, literally, two plays away from being 6-0," Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney warned. "I have no idea how they lost the Tennessee game. They really dominated that game. Then the Miami game comes down to a fourth-down play and two defenders go up, and how they don't get the ball, I don't know." Georgia Tech is rated number 18 in the Betting Power Ratings. The Yellow Jackets should be an 11-point underdog here.
