HLS in the World | A View from the Top: Chief Legal Officers in Major Sports Leagues

Legal officers in each of America's major sports leagues-- Dan Halem ‘91, chief legal counsel for MLB, Jeffrey Pash ‘80, executive vice president for the NFL, and Mike Zarren ’04, assistant general manager and team counsel for the Boston Celtics -- discussed the legal questions that can determine the direction of their leagues as they lead their in-house legal staff; strategically involve outside counsel; and work on a regular basis with each league’s owners and commissioners. Hosted by Harvard Law School Lecturer on Law Peter Carfagna ‘79, the session was titled “A View from the Top: Chief Legal Officers in Major Sports Leagues.” Their talk was part of the HLS in the World bicentennial summit which took place at Harvard Law School on Friday, October 27, 2017.
