The 2017-2018 NCAA Basketball Season kicks off on Nov. 10. For many online bookie agents, the NCAA Basketball Season provides more action than the NBA Season.

That’s because people become passionate about the school they attended. Sports bettors are people. Check out the must know heading into the NCAA Basketball Season.

Odds Might be Affected by the Shoe Scandal

The scandal that rocked Men’s College Basketball over the summer could have already influenced future betting. See below for the current future odds on teams to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship:

Duke                                       5/1

Michigan State                                    11/2

Arizona                                               8/1

Kentucky                                10/1

North Carolina                                    12/1

Kansas                                                14/1

Wichita State                           16/1

Missouri                                 16/1

Louisville                                20/1

The schools affected by the shoe scandal are: Arizona, South Carolina, Louisville, Auburn, USC, Oklahoma State, and Louisville.

Arizona’s odds would most likely be around 4 to 1 to 6 to 1 to win the NCAA Tournament if not for the shoe scandal. 7

The Wildcats were an early pre-season number one in the late spring - before the shoe scandal broke.

Louisville’s odds were most likely going to be around 14 to 1. Louisville lost their head coach, Rick Pitino. Without Pitino, Louisville’s odds have floated to 20 to 1.

Duke is a huge favorite at 5 to 1. Duke is such a big favorite that pay per head agents aren’t likely to garner any, make that close to any, wagers on the Duke Blue Devils.

I can’t remember the last time a pre-season favorite won the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

For many future bettors, Duke should be an automatic throw out.

What about Arizona, Louisville, and USC?

USC’s odds to win the NCAA Championship are at 28 to 1. Before the scandal broke, the Trojans were at much lower odds than that.

Of the three teams affected by the scandal with a shot at the National Championship, Arizona figures to garner the most future book action.

The Wildcats are ranked first in the nation per Sports Illustrated. SI believes that Arizona has the best chance of winning the title.

Some astute college hoops handicappers are going to jump on the Cats at 8 to 1.

USC, no doubt, will also garner some love to win the National Championship. The Trojans have a solid team. The odds on USC are much higher than they should be.

Louisville will get some play although it won’t be close to what Arizona and USC get.

What Should Per Head Agents do Counter Higher than Normal Odds?

The best thing that online bookie agents can do to counter any out of whack odds is first set max betting limits.

Setting max betting limits on Arizona is a no-brainer since they’re offering 8 to 1 odds, when their odds are more likely 5 to 1, or 6 to 1.

After that, agents should make sure to change the lines, via the line mover, for any odds they believe aren’t correct. In the case of Arizona, the odds could be changed at least a point lower, from 8 to 1 to 7 to 1.

Never forget that the goal of a pay per head agent is to make money. That means anticipating what wagers players, pro and casual, are going to make.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
