Fred Done Pays Out on Man City: ‘Painful for the Heart and the Wallet’

“This is painful both for the heart and the wallet but after winning at Old Trafford there is no way no one is closing that 11 point gap,” BetFred.com founder Fred Done said Monday. “This hurts but the Blues look unstoppable so I’m giving the punters who backed them an early Christmas present.”

“It’s a sad day but as far as I’m concerned the Blues are champions,” Done said.

His Reds lost 2-1 at Old Trafford and Done had to shell out £800,000  as a result.

Just two years ago, Done paid out early on Leicester City in April 2016.

He has paid out early on the wrong team in the past.  A more recent example occurred in 2012 when Done paid out early on Man United to win the Premier League.  Ultimately, it was Man City to win it on goal difference.

Done said: “I got abuse from United fans when I got it wrong in 1998 and 2012 and got accused of jinxing the title. This time they will be hoping I’ve got it wrong again, but watching Man City I don’t think so. You could say the Premier League is Done and Dusted…and my wallet has been emptied”
