The odds for this year’s Pinstripe Bowl had the Iowa Hawkeyes as a -2.5 favorite versus Boston College. The College Football Betting Power Ratings suggest that Iowa should be a -4 favorite here with oddsmakers dropping the line from -3 to -2.5 in favor of the Hawkeyes. The Pinstripe Bowl is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football bowl game that is held at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York City that was begun in 2010. The conference tie-ins are the ACC and Big Ten with a payout of $2 million.
Both teams will enter this bowl game with identical 7-5 records Straight Up. Boston College, however, has been dominant Against The Spread, going 8-3 while closing out the season solid with five of six victories Straight Up. Iowa, on the other hand, is one game under the .500 mark Against The Spread.
Boston College will be making its second straight appearance at Yankee Stadium. Despite a rushing attack that gained the third-most yards in the conference, the Eagles were balanced in terms of scoring with 23 rushing touchdowns and 24 passing scores.
"I think we're very similar that way," Boston College coach Steve Addazio said. "We'll probably both be fighting to accomplish that. I will say this to you, though, we've worked really hard. We'll be balanced in that game. But for us, it all starts with the ability to run that football.
"From there, it really starts to set off our throw game, then from there we can do the things that we have planned for this game. But our plan in this game is to be quite balanced, but that run game needs to be strong."
The Hawkeyes are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
