World Series of Poker Update: Leader Board Wednesday 7 pm
Gambling911.com looks at the top 15 World Series of Poker leader board for Wednesday evening, July 8, 2009. Remember, we will have updates in our popular Poker section leading right up to the last remaining 9 players.
With 352,000 chips, Troy Weber led the pack Wednesday.
Weber has had 4 cashes in live tournaments to date totaling a mere $53,120. If he can hold on to the lead to the end, Weber is looking at becoming more than $8 million richer. Of course it is way too early to make predictions.
The top 4 spots on the World Series of Poker leader board Wednesday night belonged to amateurs. But the 4th spot had a familiar sounding name - Tony Hachem. He's the brother of 2005 WSOP winner, Joe Hachem.
In the 5th spot was certainly a familiar name: There were found Josh Arieh. Born in Rochester, New York, Hachem has nearly $5 million in live career tournament winnings.
Arieh is something of a divisive figure, such as often relying on verbal bullying when trying to force a hand. He has earned the friendship and respect of many of his competitors, but has also committed several faux pas during his career, lambasting Harry Demetriou after an important hand in the Main Event of the 2004 World Series of Poker and, after being eliminated from that tournament, pulling one of the remaining players (David Williams) aside and whispering, "bust this motherf*****," referring to the other remaining opponent, eventual champion Greg Raymer. He subsequently apologized after both incidents. In July 2008, he started playing online at Full Tilt Poker.
Jeff Lisandro needs no introduction. He still sits among the top 10 on the leader board and is vying for the title of 2009 World Series of Poker Player of the Year after an outstanding performance heading into the main event.
