Alabama Wins National Championship, But Books are the Real Winners

Now the Alabama Crimson Tide and Coach Nick Saban have won 5 National Championships since 2009, which is 5 of the last 10. Saban now has a total of 6 which ties him with the late great Bear Bryant. The Tide were able to come back from a 13 point deficit in the second half against the Georgia Bulldogs and Sabanís ex-coaching disciple in Kirby Smart, which now also makes Saban a ridiculous 12-0 against his former assistants. Not only were the Crimson Tide able to come from behind and win in overtime, but they did this after benching their starting QB in the second half, and instead of going with a true freshman Tua Tagovailoa.

It was a thrilling game that needs overtime to finally be decided on the last play of the game with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Tagoviloa to DeVonta Smith. It was a great game for all of College football and its fans, and as much as everyone benefited from it around the world, no one benefited more than the pay per head bookies taking action.

The numerous price per head bookie services around the world closed the championship game with Alabama as the -3.5 point favorite and the over/under at 46. The action for the game was predominately on Alabama at almost a 4 to 1 ratio, and the money on the total was more on the under because many fans were expecting a low scoring defensive football game. The game started out with the underdog Georgia Bulldogs winning and covering the first half, which was very prosperous for the bookies. However, there was a bunch of action on Alabama second half at -5.5 to -6, which helped some people win some money back.

But the final score which was Alabama 26-23 clinched it for the books, because Alabama fell short of covering the spread by a hook, and the total went over the 46, which most people had the under on. In addition many per head websites†like Ahad a bunch of player props and scoring props to bet on as well, and considering that most of the scoring and big plays were by not done by the main stars such as Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris, and Javon Wims, the sports bookies made a killing on these props as well. It just shows that that the only real thing you can expect in a Championship game is the unexpected, which is always a winning formula for the bookies.
