British Open Betting Odds Reopened at Sports Interaction
After a weekend in which the Canadian-based online gambling website took down its 2009 British Open betting odds Sportsinteraction.com has now put them back up. A number of bookmakers held off on posting British Open betting odds until after the past week's golf events unfolded.
Results of past week tournaments have resulted in some questions as to how well certain golfers will be performing, with many eyes on Padraig Harrington. He won the last two Open Championships and was brilliant this week at the Irish Open.
Padraig Harrington has won the Irish PGA Championship for the third straight time, ending a month of poor results in time for his title defence next week in the British Open.
Harrington closed with a 1-over 72 on Saturday at The European Club for a seven-shot victory over former British Amateur champion Brian McElhinney.
Harrington prefers to play the Irish PGA, which is not sanctioned by any of the major tours, to prepare himself for links golf, which he will face at Turnberry. He has won the last two years at the Irish PGA, then gone on to win the British Open.
Harrington had missed the cut in his last five tournaments.
On Winning the 2009 British Open, Harrington had this to say: "It's a pointless thing to say I can go out and win it. That wouldn't help me win it. Even though I turn up and it will be three in a row, it's not like I'm winning all three in the one week. I'm just playing one event and I have to treat it like any of the majors I've played. It's not like I haven't tried 100 per cent in every one of them. I can't try any harder."
The favorite remained Tiger Woods, who won the AT&T Open last week.
Sportsinteraction.com had Tiger at +187 odds, just short of paying out $200 for every $100 bet.
