SEC Investigating Cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin slipped following the news, but subsequently pared some of those losses with the digital currency last trading at $10,335.35 Wednesday evening Eastern Standard Time.

Dozens of subpoenas and information requests to technology companies and advisers involved in the red-hot market for initial coin offerings have been issued.

These ICOs allow cryptocurrency start-ups to raise funds through the issue of digital tokens.
