Florida Gators Favorites

The 2009 NCAA College Football season is fast approaching - week one kicks off Sept. 3 - so now would be a good time to make your picks for the BCS National Championship.   betED.com has last year's champions, the Florida Gators, favored to repeat at +150 in BCS National Championship betting odds.

The Oklahoma Sooners, who the Gators beat in the 2009 BCS National Championship game in January, are next at +450 followed by the Texas Longhorns at +700.

Florida has won three national titles - two of them coming in the past three seasons.

The 2006 Gators were posted as favorites to win the 2010 BCS Championship after they won the school's second National Championship on January 8, 2007, beating the No. 1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14. Last January, the Gators beat Oklahoma 24-14 at Dolphin Stadium to win the BCS National Championship.

The Gators have won the Southeastern Conference Championship a record seven times in nine tries since the SEC began the championship game in 1992.

Florida will be led by 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The quarterback announced after the BCS championship that he would return for his senior year rather than make himself eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft.

Oklahoma blew out the Missouri Tigers 62-21 in the 2008 Big 12 Championship last December before losing to Florida in the National championship.

Texas surprised many last season when the Longhorns flew out of the gate to an 8-0 SU start, including a win over then-No. 1 Oklahoma.

Texas, which finished the season 12-1 SU, defeated No. 10 Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl 24-21 last January.

The longest of all longshots for the 2010 BCS Championship is Boston College at +20000.
