Famed Sports Handicapper, Journalist Missing: Frantic Search Underway
One of the world's top sports handicappers and writers, Dave Malinsky, has not been seen or heard from since Saturday.
A frantic search has commenced in the mountains of Mount Charleston outside of Las Vegas.
Malinsky's car was found near Deer Creek North Loop. An experienced hiker, he was supposed to have had dinner with his mother Saturday evening but never showed up.
A gofundme account has been opened in his name. It was over $12K by Friday morning.
Vik Choski of TheBigLead.com writes of Malinsky:
In the las vegas sports gambling world, David Malinsky is definitely a household name. He is a legendary gambler, and I know him from his daily Point Blank forum at the Sports Book Review. Malinsky is one of the smartest handicappers around, consistently providing terrific breakdowns on a daily basis. He is also one of the nicest guys online, always spending time to respond to every single question that comes his way on his forum.
The first sign of trouble was when Malinsky, an avid blogger, had not posted on his forum.
Volunteers, and several agencies, including the Red Rock Search and Rescue and fire officials, are helping Las Vegas Metro with the search. Temperatures had dropped into the 20s in recent days.
