In July, Google will be updating its Chrome browser to warn visitors when they land on a page that is not secure, one that does not incorporate the HTTPS:// before a URL. SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

Affiliates who do not have their sites secure risk losing significant amounts of traffic.

Not only will customers be less confident about doing business with a website that is not secure, either making purchases or signing up for an email list, but Google is also prioritizing sites encrypting their data to the top of the search engine results page. That means sites that are not secure will show up at the bottom, which could impact the number of site visits coming from search.

While the "Not Secure" message in one's browser at first may not be noticed by the average web surfer, it is the loss of rankings in search that will have affiliates most concerned. Google has said it will rank "unsecure" sites lower in search.
