Google Play Changes Stance on iGaming Apps

Google Play has a wide array of apps available in its Android-exclusive store. However, fans of iGaming and online sportsbook apps were facing a ban as originally planned by the gaming giant. According to a recent post by PlaySlots4RealMoney.com, Google Play has reversed its decision to remove all iGaming and online sportsbook apps from its Android-exclusive stores.

This decision comes with one big caveat. These Google Play apps will only be made available in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and France. The company announced that it would only accept applications for distribution of these apps in it Play store for users in these particular geographic regions. This decision gives all betting brands operating in these jurisdictions an opportunity to market its products to a much wider audience through any Android-powered smartphones and tablets.

Since August of 2017, it appears that Google has softened its hardline stance against any form of gambling including real money slots that can be played online through these iGaming apps. However, things have not eased enough with Canada and the United States left off the distribution list. Fans of iGaming and online sportsbook apps in these two countries are hopeful that this recent decision by Google Play is a step in the right direction. In a company release through some recent emails on this matter, Google was quoted in this report as stating that there is a “possibility of further expansion of the policy change…to new regions and countries”. Whether or not this pertains to Canada and the US was not addressed.

The iGaming and online sportsbook market for apps continues to rapidly expand all across North America. Despite the fact that Google Play has blocked access to its Android-exclusive store in this region, iGaming brands have found alternative ways to reach users in Canada and the US. The easiest way to bypass Google is to offer their native apps as a direct download from their official websites.

The list of real money Android iGaming apps have been made available to Canadian players through this direct marketing approach continues to expand. Anyone looking to play real money slots north of the border can find any number of Canadian-friendly online casino apps that accept Canadian dollars to gamble. There is a wide variety of slot machines and table games that will work on all Android devices including an interesting selection on new slots apps for 2018.

One of the top iGaming options for Canada-based players over the past several years has been Jackpot City. With over 71 online casino titles along with a wide selection of video slots, this site is also popular with players looking for a wide range of ways to fund an online gambling account as well as make withdrawals. Kackpot City may be the market leader in the Canadian online casino industry, but according to Updato, Ruby Fortune is making a name for itself with a “dedicated Android app and intuitive app interface” that makes it simple to make deposits and request withdrawals from online accounts.
