Skrill Now Supports Bitcoin

The leading payment transfer system for the online gambling sector, Skrill, has just announced it will be supporting bitcoin.

Skrill's entry into the cryptocurrency market could prove lucrative. While users will only be able to buy and sell bitcoin and a few other cryptocurrencies, Skrill account holders should have the ability to send and receive funds in BCH shortly.

A number of online gambling firms, mostly focused on the US-market and other "high risk" jurisdictions report up to 80% of all transactions conducted via bitcoin.

CEO Lorenzo Pellegrino said that being able to trade bitcoin through Skrill accounts would appeal to consumers, as a simple way to dabble in the cryptocurrency markets.

“The world of cryptocurrency trading is exciting and dynamic, and our digital wallet service very much lends itself to this environment. I’m confident that the ability to trade in cryptocurrencies quickly and easily through Skrill will appeal to consumers both now and in the future. We know many people want to experiment with cryptocurrency trading but don’t know where to start and we’ve made the entire process very straightforward.”

Bitcoin continued to gain ground on Thursday with its price rising above $7800.
