Poker pro and ardent supporter of US President Donald Trump, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow chimed in regarding voter ID requirements.

Trump has previously claimed that millions voted illegally in the 2016 presidential election, which a 2017 investigation failed to prove.

In a Tampa rally Tuesday night, the US President questioned why some states do not require a photo ID when you essentially need one to do just about everything else.  He specifically cited grocery shopping as an example.

"You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID," Trump said at a rally in Tampa, Florida, supporting GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis' gubernatorial bid. "You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID and you need your picture."

Retail transactions in the US rarely require any form of identification.  Shoppers paying with a check or card may have to produce a picture ID.

Matusow responded with this tweet:

You can't go anywhere in USA without having an I'd to do anything so why is it wrong for our government to provide everyone who's a legal citizen with a voter I'd card? P.s this has 0 to do with who's President. This is for future of democracy! #requirevoterID

And, not surprisingly, his followers went wild.  Most are not afraid to take a jab at Mike, albeit "The Mouth" did get his fair share of support.

Scott Damico tweeted in support:

"You got to have a dam license to fish for God's sake , smh but not to vote ?"

The majority spoke out against Matusow's comment.

Jake Esq tweeted:

I"t starts with requiring an ID card, then immediately goes to denying those ID cards based on passing tests, paying money, inability to apply for them, etc. These tactics have historically targeted minorities, poor, rural Americans who all have the right to vote."

Brandon Dotson tweeted:

"Thought you were staying out of politics. We preferred it that way."

Big O tweeted:

"We are actually a democratic republic get it straight so stay out of politics and stick to poker."

Craig Foster offered:

"Really all those cases of voter fraud ( virtually none) means we need voter identification. What really need is a way to make sure people can’t hack into the election machines. Since it’s been proven that it’s easy to do."

Chris Stoltzfus noted:

"I've had to show an ID everywhere I've voted. I thought that was standard"

Indeed there are states that do not require any form of ID to vote at the ballot box: California, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Washington, D.C.  Just shy of half of these voted for Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election.
