UFC 229 Fight Odds Released - Khabib vs. McGregor
UFC 229 fight odds were released late Friday afternoon following news that Conor McGregor will be taking on Khabib Nurmagomedov. BetOnline was offering odds at Khabib -185 v Conor McGregor +150
"This one will be HUGE!", remarked Dave Mason, head oddsmaker at BetOnline.
The fight is set for Oct. 6 in Las Vegas.
McGregor (21-3) has not fought in the UFC since November 2016. His professional boxing debut versus Floyd Mayweather last August shattered all betting records for boxing and became the most trafficked event for the Gambling911.com website in its 18 years online. McGregor lost via TKO in the 10th round.
McGregor, 30, accepted a plea deal from the Brooklyn District Attorney's office last week for his involvement in a rampage inside Barclays Center ahead of UFC 223.
McGregor pleaded guilty to a single disorderly conduct violation.
Nurmagomedov, of Dagestan, was the alleged target of the attack, making this event all the more exciting.
Nurmagomedov (26-0) won the title and became the UFC's undisputed champion at UFC 223 in April.
BetOnline expects to offer a wide range of prop bets on this event as well.
In the U.S. a handful of states look to capitalize on the betting frenzy that is almost guaranteed for Khabib vs. McGregor following a Supreme Court decision in May allowing all 50 states the ability to offer sports wagering.
Thus far, New Jersey, West Virginia, Mississippi and Delaware look to join Nevada with sports books opening within each of those states. Pennsylvania is slated to have sports books available in designated casinos prior to UFC 223.
