Can I Bet on NFL Games Online From Illinois, Missouri, Iowa?

While the US Supreme Court has now made sports betting legal in the Unite States, though Missouri  will not be able to bet on the NFL this upcoming season from any statewide establishment.  Illinois and Iowa have legalized sports betting in-state.  Iowa is expected to have sportsbooks in operation by September while Illinois will have in-state sports betting by early 2020.  For now, a few dozen of internationally licensed sportsbooks will accept wagers on this year's NFL as well as the Draft.

WILL THESE STATES WELCOME SPORTS BETTING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Illinois - In January 2018, a Senate bill called the "Sports Betting Consumer Protection Act" was introduced. The draft bill looked to  "authorize sports betting or electronic sports betting by an electronic sports betting patron or sports betting facility patron." Illinois saw several other sports betting bills introduced in 2018, too. Hearings were held about the various bills.

In June 2019, the state had gone all-in, legalizing sports wagering in casinos and even ballparks.  Online wagering will be available.

Iowa will also have online sports betting, however, you will need to register in-person the first two years.

Neither state will permit betting on in-state college teams (i.e. no Hawkeyes betting in Iowa and no Northwestern Wildcats betting in Illinois).  Offshore sportsbooks will accept bets on these teams from these states.

Missouri is an excellent candidate to legalize sports betting in 2020.  Major global bookmakers have partnered with casino operators in the state.
