PokerStars: 'You Can Rest Assured Player Accounts, Funds Secure' After DoS Attack
  • PokerStars hit by a massive DoS attack this past weekend
  • Some players say they lost money during tournaments to players in other countries not affected
  • Stars says it is working with law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice

PokerStars says it is working around the clock to refund players affected by this past Sunday's massive DoS attack.

At the time, the company was accused of allowing tournaments to continue for those countries unaffected by the DoS attack, more specifically Romania.

One angry player tweeted:

Pure bullshit. Guess ill be looking to go to @888poker after this shit. Server crash 14k stack. Blinded down to 1200 chips i get a whopping $1.20 return. Should of been when i had a 14k stack not 1200

Another tweeted:

yep, busted 4 tournaments myself whilst the dc was happening, money I'm never getting back I guess

PokerStars released this statement Thursday afternoon:

We recently experienced a series of DDoS attacks causing site outages & cancelled tournaments. We apologise to affected customers & ask for patience as we issue refunds, resolve technical issues & work with law enforcement. Rest assured accounts are secure & player funds are safe

Not everybody was happy with the PokerStars "reassurance" tweet.

Stars did reassure the player in question that he or she would be paid while noting that SitNGos will also be refunded.

PokerStars is the latest online poker room hit by DoS attacks that had previously knocked Americas Cardroom and PartyPoker tournaments offline.

The company has not elaborated further on its cooperation with law enforcement.
