What once was more or less a local’s sharp contest, with some interested folks around the country jumping in, has transformed into the largest NFL Handicapping contest in the world, at the Westgate in Las Vegas at their Superbook. Annette George (wife of regular Gambling911.com contributor Tony George and proprietor of the new site VegasProxyGirl.com) discusses the contest below.
The Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas is the scene this upcoming weekend (August 23-26) of Supercontest Weekend. The NFL handicapping contest has just grown exponentially and caught fire over the past few years as John Q Public can square off against Las Vegas Sharps and Professional Bettors and Handicappers. The contest format has changed this year to pay out the Top 100 entrants and it has 3 mini contests within the contest itself for best record bonuses for the first 4 weeks, first 8 weeks and final 4 weeks with $15k going to those winners. Last years Winner collected $1.32 million dollars with a record of 72% ATS over 17 weeks of the NFL (58-22-5) by picking 5 Side Plays a week based on the Contest Lines.
In 2017 there were 2748 entries and those contestants were fighting for a piece of the pool prize last year of $3,792,240. There is expected to be more contestants in 2018 and the Westgate has reported early signups have exceeded past years to date, and you can sign up in person in Las Vegas at the Westgate between now and September 8th.
Here are some Supercontest Fast Facts:
- $1500 Entry Fee per team – Must be 21 years old
- You have to sign up in person at the Westgate (fees vary – around $300 flat rate). If you do not live in Las Vegas or Nevada, you need to hire a Proxy Service to turn in your plays every week (www.vegasproxygirl.com)
- You have to pick 5 NFL games against the contest line weekly – All Side Plays no Totals Plays
- All contest plays have to be turned in Saturday’s at 11AM PST
- Standings and lines are available on Westgate’s Website weekly
- You can live anywhere and enter, but out of state contestants must hire a proxy to turn contest picks in locally. You have to sign up at the Sportsbook with your proxy.
- It is estimated that this year’s winner will top $1.5 million dollars – Westgate is paying out the Top 100 Teams this year as opposed to 50 last year.
- The is a “Winner take All” Supercontest Gold contest - $5000 per team, and the winner takes all the prize money- formatted just the same as the regular contest.
Again, anyone can enter and test their NFL Handicapping skills from players all across America for a million+ dollar prize and payouts through 100 players in 2018. If you are outside of Las Vegas, you can still enter but need a Proxy to get your picks in weekly
