- Northwestern will come into Purdue as a +3.5 underdog
- QB Clayton Thorson expected to start after underdoing surgery during the offseason
- Northwestern has won the last four games in the series dating back to 2014
Northwestern has a tough schedule ahead in 2018 with Purdue one of the potentially winable games, though this one is on the road in Week 1 with the Wildcats a +3.5 underdog. They have 50/1 odds of winning the Big Ten and are only slight favorites to win OVER 6 regular season games in 2018.
Northwestern will face four top teams, hence the total of 6.
QB Clayton Thorson might have more responsibility with the loss of RB Justin Jackson. Thorson is expected to start in this Week 1 game against Purdue after undergoing surgery during the offseason. Be sure to monitor Thorson's situation closely however.
The defense will need to replace some top safeties. Once this is resolved, the front seven should be solid. SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

Purdue, despite being the favorite, is expected to win UNDER 6 regular season games this season.
Veteran defensive leaders helped Purdue to their first bowl game since 2011 but now a number of those key players are gone. This will result in a greater reliance on the offense in 2018.
Both of Purdue's quarterbacks are recovering from significant injuries: Junior Elijah Sindelar had a torn ACL and David Blough's season ended with a dislocated ankle in early November.
This one does bode well for Northwestern as they have won the last four in this series since 2014.
