WILL VERMONT WELCOME SPORTS BETTING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Gov. Phil Scott is undecided about whether sports betting should be legalized in Vermont.

"That's not the answer to Vermont's fiscal issues," Scott said following the U.S. Supreme Court decision. "but I'm willing to listen."

The Vermont Legislature has no pending bills related to sports gambling, and legislative action seems unlikely in the near future.

"I don't know of anybody who is pushing for this in Vermont," said Danny Rachek, executive director of the Vermont Lottery.

For now sports bettors and bookies alike will rely heavily on internationally-licensed gambling sites and Pay Per Heads.
