Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Prediction, Free Pick
The first game of the 2018 NFL regular season goes off Thursday night with a battle between the Atlanta Falcons and reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were listed at -2 with the line having come down from -4.
Why is Nick Foles Starting in Place of Carson Wentz?
“After consideration and everything and about the football team and this decision, Nick Foles is the starter Week 1,” Eagles head coach Doug Pederson told the media. “My press conference will be tomorrow, and I’ll answer questions at that time. But I wanted you to hear it from me. It is about the football team and the best interests of the 53. And Nick Foles will be my starter Week 1. Thank you.”
Wentz suffered a torn ACL last season just before the Playoffs. Foles replaced Wentz and carried the team to their first ever Super Bowl win. Foles was also named the Super Bowl MVP.
Wentz had not played during the preseason. Foles did look shaky during preseason play. But in the end, the Eagles organization felt it was too early for Wentz.
Things to Consider Before Placing That Bet
Did you know? Philadelphia is 8-1 Against The Spread versus Atlanta since 1992
Did you know? The Eagles have won 15 of their last 18 games at home outright. The money line on this game is -130, meaning that a $13 bet pays $10 if Philadelphia wins outright (the $13 is refunded assuming this happens).

Foles will be without wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is out at least the first two games of the season. Atlanta has one of the better defenses in the league so this could hurt Philadelphia.
The Falcons held opponents to 27 points or fewer in all but one game in 2017. The total for this game was set at 45.
Prediction
The UNDER is 7-0 in Falcons last 7 games overall. The Eagles will not have the weapons to score against this tough Atlanta defense that had kept opponents from scoring below 27 points throughout much of last season and we don't see much changing on that front here. The UNDER 45 looks like a good play
