The Wisconsin Badgers won in Week 1 to officially kick off the 2018 College Football season, but they failed to cover despite a 31-point margin of victory. That result of course proved satisfying to bookmakers across the state of Wisconsin, especially in and around the capital of Madison, but it was a precarious cover to say the least. Jonathan Taylor scored twice against Western Kentucky to give the Badgers a win.
Taylor had two long touchdown runs, Alex Hornibrook threw for 257 yards and two scores and Wisconsin opened the season with a 34-3 victory over Western Kentucky on Friday night.
"Offensively we were doing some good things and then we'd kind of sputter," coach Paul Chryst said. "But they kept their poise and that you appreciate because no game is going to go perfect."
Wisconsin meets New Mexico in Week 2. The Lobos have never won in 13 games as an underdog of 31 or more points since 1992, so the Badgers are all right in terms of the win, we think it is safe to say. As a favorite of 31 or more points, Wisconsin is 0-3 Against The Spread over the last three seasons, which may bode well for the books although the data is limited. New Mexico hasn't been in this position in recent years.
