Whodunnit: Oddsmakers, Gamblers Ponder Who Wrote Scathing NYT Opt-Ed Piece
Everybody wants to know the anonymous writer of the opt-ed piece in the New York Times Wednesday and we could soon find out. Senator Rand Paul has suggested that each of U.S. President Donald Trump's cabinet should submit to a lie detector test.
Most senior cabinet officials came out to deny writing the piece. The author claimed to be a senior cabinet official. The Times uncharacteristically published the opt-ed claiming they were aware of the individual's identity.
The oddsmakers believed Vice President Mike Pence is the most likely author at -150.
The Twitterverse pointed out that the word 'lodestar' appeared in the opt-ed. Pence is one of the few people known to routinely use this word. On Thursday, he emphatically denied being the author.
Betsy DeVos was coming in at 2/1 odds followed by Mike Pompeo and Shteven Mnuchin at 4/1 odds.
Trump daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared had long 12/1 odds.
Stephen Miller was coming in at 15/1.
