How To Create An NFL Layoff Account Strategy (Plus Week 4 Predictions!)

Parity in the NFL requires online bookie agents to create an NFL layoff account strategy. Companies like PayPerHead.com offer tools like the layoff account to help bookies manage their sportsbooks. Check out a layoff account strategy along with a few NFL Week 4 Predictions.

NFL Layoff Account Strategy

1. Don’t fight NFL betting perception

By this we mean you should never fight what bettors tell you. Check out the odds for the following NFL Week 4 games:

Detroit Lions +3 at Dallas Cowboys

Buffalo Bills +10 at Green Bay Packers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3 at Chicago Bears

In all 3 games, sports bettors are evenly split on who will cover the spread. For example, 51% back the Bills at +10 while 49% back the Packers at -10. 51% back the Lions at +3 while 49% back the Cowboys at -3.

Per head agents shouldn’t fight betting perception. Even though a bookie might believe the Cowboys are a lock at -3, the perception says that both Detroit and Dallas have an equal chance against the spread. If Detroit or Dallas are over wagered in your sportsbook, use your layoff account to cut risk.

2. Don’t automatically use your layoff account

Sounds counterintuitive, especially after what we just wrote, but online bookie agents shouldn’t automatically use their layoff accounts. Bookies should look to teams that are way over bet in their sportsbook. Check betting percentages. If the over bet team is a lock based on the agents own handicapping, they should use their layoff accounts. If the over bet teams aren’t a lock based on the agents handicapping, they shouldn’t use their layoff accounts. Here are a few games with likely over bet favorites in NFL Week 4:

Seattle Seahawks -3 over Arizona Cardinals

Philadelphia Eagles -4 over Tennessee Titans

L.A. Chargers -10.5 over San Francisco 49’ers

Kansas City Chiefs -5 over Denver Broncos

3. When in doubt, use your layoff account

Let’s take the above games as an example for what we mean by use your layoff account when you have doubts. Let’s say that after handicapping each of the above games, a per head agent realizes that there’s no way they can make a case for any of the underdogs to cover the spread.

When that happens, the agent should use their layoff accounts. Don’t try to make a case for a dog to cover if there’s no case to be made. Use your layoff account. That’s why PayPerHead.com offers it.
