Betting 2018-19 NBA Futures - NBA MVP
With the 2018-19 NBA season set to tip-off on Tuesday, October 16th, it is the perfect time to look at some futures bets. Futures are a great way to get the most bang for your buck, both providing season long entertainment and great value. We are going to look at the complete odds and my favorites to win the NBA MVP award this season.
NBA Most Valuable Player
After winning the MVP award four times in five years (2008-09 to 2012-13), LeBron James has been shutout of the award for five years. James Harden took home the MVP hardware last season, with Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry (twice in a row 2014-15 & 2015-16) and Kevin Durant winning it the past 5 years.

In my opinion, King LeBron could have won the award every season each of the past 10 years, but I guess NBA pundits thought better of having LeBron win it every year. There is no doubt that he is the best player in the league, and has led his team to the NBA Finals in each of the past 8 years. Here are some of my favorites to in the award this season.
LeBron James +300
Like I just said, LeBron could have won the MVP award since he entered the league, so it is no surprise that he is the favorite to win the award this season. His move to the huge market of Los Angeles will put him even more in the spotlight, and with his desire to be the best, I would not bet against him winning the MVP this season.
Kevin Durant +850
Durant has won the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Award the past two years, and has shown the goods to win the league MVP again. The biggest problem with Durant, and the rest of the Warriors for that matter, is their team is stacked full of potential First Team All-Stars, so it is hard to set yourself apart enough to win the MVP award. At +850, I do like the value though.
Tips to Increasing Weekly NFL Profits with Pay Per Head
Kyrie Irving +1550
Irving is unquestionably one of the most talented players in the league, but it seems sometimes his head just is not into it. If he can stay healthy and get his mind right, Irving could help take this young and talented Celtic team a long way. With the 4th most wins of any team in the NBA last year, getting Irving and Gordon Hayward back should catapult the Celtics to the top of the East, giving Irving a great chance to win the MVP and at +1550 he is paying.
James Harden +550
The defending MVP has to get mention, especially when he is paying +550. Harden helped lead his team to the best record in the NBA last season with 65 wins, but couldn’t finish the job in the playoffs again. If the addition of Carmelo actually benefits this team, maybe the Rockets can make a splash in the playoffs and further the value of Harden to his team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo +350
The 23 year-old Greek Freak is tied as the second favorite to win the MVP with Anthony Davis at +350, so I am not in love with the value he is providing. However, he has a legitimate chance to win it this season. His points per game, field goal percentage and rebounds have increased in each of his 4 seasons in the NBA. More importantly, the Bucks win total has also increased every year the past 3 seasons.
Stephen Curry +1350
I was going to leave Steph Curry off my list, but at +1350, a guy with his talent and the team around him, I love the value here. Curry may be the most natural shooter the league has seen, and can be found on the top of many offensive stat categories. Like Durant, it is hard to stand out on a team like the Warriors, but he has a great chance to take home the MVP award for the third time in his career.
