What's the Line Movement

This one has gone from -7 to -6.5 despite 88% of the action being on the Patriots.

Patriots So Far This Season, Latest Odds

From NFL.com, which has the Patriots ranked 2 in the nation: "Before you pick at this ranking, realize that the Patriots won -- by multiple scores, no less -- without Rob Gronkowski, Sony Michel and Shaq Mason. Tom Brady picked at the Pack's defense most of the night, being quite familiar with the scheme's czar, former Jets and Bills coordinator (and AFC East foe) Mike Pettine. Then Brady hit the Joshpot with that odd-looking intermediate throw to Mr. Gordon -- a ball that Julian Edelman initially elevated for ... before bringing his hands down in a move that made him look like a red, white and blue PEZ dispenser. Michel's absence meant more was required of James White, who was obviously gassed after that trick-play beaut of a screen. What a well-planned, well-timed, well-better-than-anything-the-Packers-showed play call from New England. Edelman delivered calmly and coolly. Again."

Titans So Far This Season, Latest Odds

The betting public may be looking at this trend in backing New England this week:  Titans are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games when playing on Sunday following a Monday night game.

The Titans still have a chance in the AFC South, especially if the Texans start to flounder a bit.  And it just happens to be their bye week.  Tennessee pays $50.50 for every $10 bet to win this division.

It also helps that starting QB Marcus Mariota is almost back to full health.

Patriots vs. Titans Betting Trends, Prediction

The bookmakers are looking to recoup their losses from this past weekend with the Titans by pushing all the spread action towards New England and doing very little to encourage otherwise (i.e. move the line up past -7 where it initially opened at some books.  Instead they are flirting with the -6.5 and it wouldn't surprise us to see them go to -6.

ESPN.com makes an interesting observation: "Tennessee's offense has faced the toughest schedule of defenses this year, and that in part accounts for some of its offensive struggles. The Titans haven't faced a single defense that ranks in the bottom half of the league since Week 1. They have also faced the NFL's most difficult schedule of run defenses. The Patriots run defense is eighth best in the league, but their pass defense ranks just 18th despite facing the sixth-easiest schedule of pass offenses."

This is no doubt what the bookmakers are hoping generates some much needed profit in Week 10.
