CNN is the latest mainstream news media outlet in the United States to cover the apparent kidnapping of Sean "Tony" Creighton in Costa Rica.

Creighton, a 42-year-old U.S. citizen of the United States, has run San Pedro, Costa Rica-based 5Dimes Sports since 1999.
A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, West Virginia since heading to Costa Rica, Creighton still had established roots in the Mountaineer State. None of the West Virginia newspapers or networks have covered Creighton's since his disappearance.
ESPN has and on September 16, 2019 reported an update that Costa Rican authorities confirmed remains found were that of Creighton.

According to Costa Rican authorities, the corpse of Sean Creighton--owner of offshore sportsbook 5Dimes--was found last week in a cemetery in Quepos. Creighton, who grew up in West Virginia, disappeared last September.

The U.S. businessman was last seen September 24 after his vehicle had been intercepted by armed individuals. The perpetrators later demanded a near $1 million in ransom from Creighton's wife, who paid it in Bitcoin without first notifying authorities. Twelve individuals were arrested in Costa Rica and Spain on Friday. The backyard of one of these individuals was later dug up in an effort to locate Creighton's body.
Nearly a dozen perpetrators tied to the kidnapping were later apprehended, some of them extradited back to Costa Rica from Spain.
Good Morning America and ABC News contacted Gambling911.com late last year to advise they would feature a segment on this story Sunday morning.
CNN began reporting on the matter almost immediately.
