NC State senior guard Eric Lockett was arrested Thursday morning and charged with assault on a female, according to arrest records, which could serve as a distraction as the Wolfpack play a pivotal game Saturday versus number 2-ranked Duke.  He's been suspended from the program.  Not surprisingly, the Blue Devils come into this game as a -17 point favorite.

The line on this game has been stagnant with only a slight move to -16.5 at some of the books. Sagarin indicates a line of -16 so there is some very modest shading on the Blue Devils.

While Lockett has averaged just 5.0 points and 3.3 rebounds this season, he's the second player on the team to be suspended in less than 24 hours.

Former Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones was not on the team's bench Wednesday night.

"Sacha is no longer on the team," Keatts told reporters after the game. "That's all I'll say for now."

Those who pay special attention to recent historic head-to-head trends will push aside any fears of off-the-court upheaval and may consider the Tar Heels a good bet, as North Carolina State has beaten Duke in their last two meetings.

NC State was a +12.5 home dog back on January 6 when they upset mighty Duke.  That line equivalent would be +19 on the road at that time.

Last year's two-point victory at Duke for the Tar Heels had them with the same line as now.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
