Even when a team is winning outright, this doesn't necessarily mean they are covering the spread.  Gambling911.com looks at recent game performance for specific teams to see who is winning out - the bookie or the bettor.  Here we look at the Villanova Wildcats as of February 24.

Though these Wildcats may not seem as intimidating as some of the other higher ranked teams in College Basketball this season, for the bettors, Villanova has been mostly golden.  They rank a 7 in terms of covering the spread over their last ten games (7-3 Against The Spread) and are 17-10 ATS on the season.  In other words, if you routinely place a bet on the Wildcats spread every time they play you should be up at least $300 assuming a $110 wager each time

They face off against Xavier on Sunday.

Villanova was seeing 87% of the action versus the Xavier Musketeers as a -6 road favorite.  This one was trending downwards from -6.5 to -5.5.  Sagarin suggests a line of Musketeers -4.5 here.  Villanova does have a 7 ranking for covering over the last ten games overall.  Seven of the last ten games in this series have been won by the home team but the Wildcats have won three of those away games.  There is a slight edge here for Xavier but not enough for us to make a pick.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
