College Football Betting: Gamblers Get Crushed Again

It is turning into one of the best College Football starts in online bookmaking history.  Week 2 delivered yet another punch to the gambling public, even worse than Week 1.  The ultimate blow came when two heavily bet on favorites failed to cover.

USC was undoubtedly the most bet on College Football team of the weekend, and while they were able to pull off a last minute win, the Trojans failed to cover the 7 point spread.

Likewise, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost, not only Against The Spread, but outright to the Michigan Wolverines.

"It was a blood bath for sports bettors," acknowledged Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  "More than half the College Football bets were placed on these two teams."

The rest of the public favorites also failed miserably.

Among them:  North Carolina, which won but failed to cover the -4 ½ spread against Connecticut.

Tennessee U was upset by UCLA.  Iowa State was creamed by Iowa.  Stanford could not cover verses Wake Forest.   East Carolina got decimated.

Among the bright spots were TCU, Brigham Young (BYU), Florida and South Carolina.

Bookies are hoping for a repeat with the start of the NFL season on Sunday.  The first game actually went off on Thursday and was also a big win for the bookmakers after Pittsburgh failed to cover.

The concern with a current recession is that many gamblers will be unable to fully recover from extensive losses and unable to bet in upcoming weeks should their bankrolls dry up.  For now though the bookmakers are relishing these huge wins.

Gambling911.com managed to go 3-1 for a second straight week with its College Football picks, winning with Michigan, UCLA and Duke.  We lost with the USC failed cover.
