From ESPN.com: "Minnesota and Michigan State will meet for the second time this season on Saturday in Des Moines. The Spartans won the earlier matchup 79-55 in February in East Lansing. Minnesota shot just 36.7 percent. The Gophers fared worse in only three other games. "I thought they were pretty connected on the defensive end," Minnesota's Amir Coffey said. "They were solid in that game." Coffey and Jordan Murphy are Minnesota's two leading scorers. Coffey had four points, his lowest total of the season. Murphy had five, which tied for his lowest."
Predictions
College Football News: "The Spartans managed to squeak by Minnesota by 24 back in early February, but that was the regular season – it doesn’t matter.
"The Gophers don’t take the ball away, Michigan State passes the ball around way too well, and it’ll be a different team than the one that was pushed so hard by Bradley. Minnesota will hang around deep into the second half by matching up well on the boards, and then the offense will fizzle.
"The three isn’t going to fall in the second round for the Gophers."
Michigan State 79, Minnesota 70
Line: Michigan State -10.5, o/u: 142
The Lansing State Journal sees Minnesota able to cover the +10 point spread against the home state team.
"If you were to just judge these teams based on Thursday, you’d pick Minnesota. The season tells us otherwise. This is a good matchup for the Spartans. The Gophers aren’t likely to shoot as well as they did Thursday and their defense shouldn’t make MSU as uncomfortable offensively as Bradley did." MSU 76, Minnesota 6
Action vs. Line Movement
75% of the early spread action was on the Gophers.
Line
The line had not moved off the 10 overnight at nearly all the books. Those that have moved it did so towards the 9.5.
