60 Minutes Looks at Bitcoin

This episode explores the very early days of Bitcoin one man decided to trade his bitcoin for pizza at a time the cryptocurrency was only worth pennies. It was a historic event, but not such a great investment. "60 Minutes" reports, Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Today bitcoin is trading at just over $7,000, having roared back in recent weeks from around the $4,000 mark.  In December 2018, bitcoin had climbed to an all-time high of just over $19,000.

Anderson Cooper and Andy Court, the producer of the story, also talked with 60 Minutes Overtime's Ann Silvio in an attempt to try and unveil who is the mysterious founder of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Bitcoin now accounts for upwards of 70% of the funds to and from online gambling sites in restricted markets.
