Those living in Switzerland will have access to only a few authorized websites.

Last June 73% of voters approved the overhaul of the country’s gambling law.

From Swissinfo.ch:

A list of unauthorised gambling providers will be published on the websites of the Federal Gaming Commissionexternal link and the Lotteries and Betting Commissionexternal link. Those on the blacklist will be automatically blocked by Swiss telecommunications service providers by means of DNS (domain name server) blocks. Only websites accessible from Switzerland will be blocked. Foreign service providers who voluntarily withdraw from the Swiss market with appropriate measures will not be blocked.

Estimates show that foreign online gambling sites based offshore from locales such as Malta and Gibraltar take in $252 million a year.   Gamblers should start requesting funds from those sites not in compliance immediately as they may no longer have a means of access.

Internet censorship in Switzerland is regulated by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland on a case by case basis.

Software applications for circumventing web-blocking are available and include Tor, which is in use through software including xB Browser and Vidalia.  Other proxy solutions including Proxify and Freenet can be downloaded from the Internet and get around the blocking mechanisms.
